Running Nirvana

I started training for the Seattle Rock 'n Roll half marathon on June 27th. This being the longest race I've ran thus far in my life I am not only looking forward to it but nervous for it, too. So I have a little less than 14 weeks to train so I'll be ready, my hip flexors strong and my endurance high so I can finish the race strong.

What is cool about this race is there is a band at every mile! Talk about motivation! It starts in Tukwila, runs along the shore of Lake Washington and ends at Safeco Field. No one is running this with me, so if you're game, holla. It's gonna be fun!

Ready for good news

I know we're in a "bad economy" right now, but I am sick and tired of hearing it be used as an excuse. It seems that every time I turn on NPR I hear, "blah blah blah blah due to our economy." I want to hear news that isn't related to the economy and more importantly, I want to hear good news! I got especially ticked off when I heard that AIG paid $100K bonuses to the employees that got the company to the state that it is in, yet they are receiving a butt load of money is government bail out?! wtf mate?!

There is good news out there, yet supposedly "it doesn't sell as well as bad news does." Find the good stuff here, it'll make your day brighter.

the bay

All my life, I've lived by the water. At the farthest, I was 15 minutes away from the glorious Puget Sound. The more and more I see it and spend time at its shores, the more fond I grow of it. How lucky or rather, fortunate I feel to have grown up so close to such a glorious body of water. The reason I bring this up is because I was walking down to Fairhaven this afternoon and literally stopped in my tracks from the beauty of Bellingham Bay. I'm not gonna lie, I take it for granted, I don't visit it enough and rarely think of stopping by to say hi. But when I do, I feel so happy. That smell, the sound...I love it!

I wish I got xtratufs on my 1st birthday

Aaron A and I went to my nephew, Grayson's first birthday party yesterday. There were probably a dozen kids under the age of 4 there, wowzer. Nonetheless, Grayson was as cute as ever, but he hated his chocolate cake... Aaron bought him his first of many pairs of xtratufs. They are way too big, but with that shovel and his boots, he is ready to go clamming!
