March Recap

Holy cow! It is already the end of March?! What a month it has been - I've been very busy, but still managed to get in TWO weekends away from Bellingham, which is needed every month or two.

Do you remember my goal for March? If not, here they are:

Run: 60 miles

Bike: 575 minutes
Swim: 5,500 meters

Here is what I actually did:

Run: 56.81 miles
Bike: 438 minutes
Swim: 10,339 yards

Not really stoked on these numbers. I feel like I've been almost over training, but I can't even meet these goals? Are these goals unrealistic? Actually, when I think about it, I took more days off this month from working out than I normally do. For example, since I was gone 2 weekends I missed the opportunity to get in some long, intense workouts. So I suppose my numbers are reasonable...

I did beat my swimming goal and it is probably due to the fact that I'm really exicted about swimming because its a new sport to me. Do you sometimes get bored of running and biking? I do. I need workout buddies badly to motivate me!

Here are a few things I believe will help me increase my mileage safely and effectively for April:

1. Get OFF the treadmill and onto the pavement to log more miles. Since I get so bored on the treadmill, my runs are often shorten than what I could do outside. Plus, the weather will be nicer and I'll really want to get outside.

2. Stop going to spin class and get on my bike. Spin classes are only 45 minutes but usually drain me because of the intense nature of them. When I'm on my bike outside, I still get an effective workout, but I ride much longer than 45 minutes and therefore log more miles.

3. LOOOOONG workouts. More long runs (6-8 miles) & bike rides (50-70+ miles). Gotta get those weekend sweatsheshs in!

I'm still finalizing goals for April, I don't want them to be fitness related, so it has been harder to come up with them cause I'm so used to setting fitness related goals. But I'll still strive to get the same workout numbers in April as I did in March...  Stay tuned...
