Real Food

I watched Food Inc last night and it combined with many other sources promoting real, organic food, made me promise to myself to eat less engineered food. The words 'food' and 'engineered' should not be in the same sentence! The only reason that fake/engineered food tastes so good is because of either the fat, sugar or salt content - we're addicted to it! Gotta get past the addiction.

Real food definitely means real meat. I'm not going vegetarian, rather I'll only eat natural meat that is preferably local. Yes, it is more expensive, but SO worth it to me. My friend Judy does this and I know it's something that'll be easy for me especially after seeing how those poor chickens and cows are treated! How awful. : (

This change can't do anything but positive things for my body. Less food related sickness, more energy and basically feeling better all the time. I'm not a horrible eater right now, I just know I can do better.

As I continue to train for all my races, I believe my 'real food' diet will supplement training well. I've learned that our figure is determined by 80% nutrition, 20% exercise and 20% genetics. With nutrition making up such a large piece of the pie, I better make my diet a healthy one!

I'll be sure to let you know how the 'real diet' is going and what challenges come into play. What did you think about Food Inc? Have you read Skinny Bitch? I recommend that book too.

  1. Hey Girlie! thanks for the comment...I got the red bike shorts from The Hub Cycle Shop here in CA, they are women's Pearl Izumi so I think you can probably find them online or at any bike shop that carries that brand. I hope you're having a great day! xoxo!
