bento box = action shots

Hi Bloggies. I just got back from a fun little bike ride with Team Sweat. Rebecca and I rode the Lake Samish Loop backwards and ended up getting in about 26 miles.

It was a lovely night, albeit a short one with the sun setting around 7:20 and it felt nice to get out on the bike. I put my Bento Box on the bike and brought my camera along for some action shots. Not really safe, but I ensured no cars were around. : )

Rebecca. Love her purple leggings!

Having tons of fun, of course! I need new "sporty" shades...maybe some Ryders??

Love Lake Samish.
So it was a good ride. I think we averaged 14.5 mph which is okay considering the hills on that route.

Before I left on the ride I wrote up a whole post on how I have been eating really crappy and since I've been putting in less workout hours, I have gained a few lbs. Nothing that anyone could notice, but I do. I didn't publish the post because I thought I was being too whiny and making excused for eating tons of sweets and drinking a boat load of beer over the last month - you guys don't need to read that. So I'm trying to figure out a way that'll get me eating healthy all the time and lay off some of the beers and sweets. Any suggestions?

  1. Nice ride! Don't know what to tell ya about the beers and sweets since I don't drink and am currently eating nutella from the jar as I read blogs so I don't have all that under control! I just try to budget the junk (in moderation) into my calories for the day since I know I will eat some each day.

  2. Usually when I start really getting into losing weight again I try to eat really well everyday but give myself a 'day off.' That day I can eat all the crap I've been craving all week (still hopefully in moderation) and not feel bad, because it was my day off!

AND PUBLISH THAT POST. Gotta take the good with the bad. And I want to know what you think bad is.

  4. awesome ride! i love the pics, thanks for bring the camera along and risking your safety ;)

as for the beers and sweets...hmmmm i do believe in everything in moderation. but i found that if i don't have something around the apartment (or don't bring a lot of cash with me when i go out) then the "bad" stuff does not get into my system as much as it normally would

  5. Finding balance in nutrition is difficult. I am constantly learning new things and what works for me and what doesn't. Good luck!

  7. You live in a very pretty area! And nice ride!

Regarding eating healthy, have you ever heard of the Paleo diet? I thinking following it 100% is crazy, but it does have some valid parts to it, like lots of nuts and fresh fruits. Basically eat healthy fats and fresh stuff. Keep grains to a minimum and watch your dairy. Dark Chocolate is a must!!! (in small amounts)

When I switched over to this semi-paleo plan, I lost some weight, coupled with exercise. Good luck!

  8. Nice pictures! You have some pretty areas to ride! I am really bad about sweets too! Right now I'm trying to focus on limiting my nightly ice cream to every other night! So far it's not going well! If you find any good tips, share!

  9. Looks like a beautiful place to ride.

When it comes to beer and sweets, just enjoy them in moderation. One instead of 3 or something like that. Or try getting your sweet fix from raisins or grapes every once in a while. Sometimes I need sweet and fruit really does it for me. Of course, there are times when nothing will satisfy my raging sweet tooth except real chocolate.
