All day at work I listened to the rain POUR on the roof of my building and I knew that I wouldn’t be running outside. So I headed to the Y after work, got on the treadmill and started my run. Not even a mile into it, my legs starting itching so freaking bad. Like so bad I had to get off the machine, go into the locker room and check if I was breaking out in hives – cause that’s what it felt like. Weird!
I remember one other time this happened to me in college, but my hands were the ones to get super itchy and my breathing got difficult. I went to the doctor right away and she said I had some allergic reaction with the temperature rise in my body. What?! It never happened again, thank goodness, it was super strange feeling. Have you ever had something like this happen?
I wasn’t breaking out in hives today and my itchiness calmed down, but this ruined my workout at the Y. Just wasn’t into it (and the masses of people) after that little situation.
I still really wanted to run. I decided I needed to just run in the darkness. I went and bought a new BRIGHT Brooks running shirt so I could be SEEN by drivers and went on a wonderfully dark 5.25 mile run. The weather had calmed down to no rain and a little gusty winds – nothing I can’t handle. AND no funny itchy legs business…
Timer shot. I hope I was BRIGHT enough….
I like the looooong sleeves. I can wear my Garmin over the sleeves.
The shirt is the Brooks Nightlife Equilibrium Long Sleeved Tee, Bright Green. I like the material a lot on it – it’s soft and stretchy and fits to my body rather than hanging off it.
I LOVE those super bright Brooks shirts! Bummer about the itchiness. Super weird. A lady I work with had exercise induced anaphylactic shock and had to go to the hospital a few weeks ago! Sometimes our bodies just freak I guess!
ReplyDeleteSometimes my legs get super itchy after I run, usually in the heat. It's the worst. Sweet new shirt :) PS this is Katie not Cale
ReplyDeleteblue and green is my favorite color combination. i'm liking your look here =)
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt! I hate when my legs itch when I'm on a run...I can relate.
ReplyDeletemight it be the treadmill and not the running?
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit. So nice and bright.
ReplyDeleteI've had that happen before with running but it's been awhile. I did have it happen after a super hot shower last week though. It was AWFUL!
ReplyDeleteI get the itches every time I start a run. Takes about a mile before they go away. NO IDEA why I get em. They are so annoying! Maybe its the start of sweating? Lemme know if you find out more.
ReplyDeleteBe safe out there in the dark sister.. I'm serious! Oh yeah and I remember when that happened to you in college! Scary

ReplyDeleteYeah, running outside just can't be beat.
ReplyDeleteBut watch out for uneven sidewalks and slippery leaves...
Last night I ran the long way around Greenlake and got blown around a lot!
Um, this just happened to me Monday morning on the treadmill... Yes, indoors.
