1. I took a yoga class for the first time since college last night. I'm not against yoga, I am just usually looking for a sweatier form of exercise than what most yoga classes offer. This class was fast moving and we only held some poses for longer, so I was definitely feeling worked at some points. It was a nice change of and felt good to stretch my body out after the half marathon. I am sore today, especially in my shoulders. Surprisingly, I felt SO relaxed at the very end when we were all laying on our backs - I never thought I could get that out of yoga...
2. Today I bought an iPad. It was a impulse buy, but I think I'm going to love it. I had to wait in line at the Apple store for 1.5 hours to buy one for the Marketing team at work and I figured I should buy one for myself and if I absolutely hate it (yea, right!) I can return it within two weeks. I am one of "them" now.
3. Here are a few pics from last weekend's half marathon.

ReplyDeletep.s. you're probably young enough that you haven't been too injury-prone yet, but I started having core injuries (upper back, hip flexors, shoulders) in my 30's and I found that swimming helped but yoga REALLY helped keep the injuries down. The different poses and stretches aren't things you'd generally think to do during warm-up/cool-down from regular triathlon exercise, so they help "shore up" muscles from weird strains and sprains. Also the "balance" part of yoga really helped me in both bicycling and running; made it easier to regain my balance after tripping or spinning out, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am beyond jealous of your new iPad! So if you decide you don't want it you can totally send it my way! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd ps, cute 1/2 marathon pics. I so rarely manage to look like I am enjoying myself while running...
Looking strong! Way to go, lady!! :D Here's to wishing you a rapid recovery!
ReplyDeleteANGRY BIRDS! I would love to play that game on the iPad. Haha! Now you can see why I would get one :)
