What do I do on St. Patrick's Day while drinking a beer, listening to firefighters in kilts play bagpipes and getting a plastic beaded shamrock necklace put around my neck? I get convinced to do the Seattle to Portland bike ride again.
It's official, I'm registered. Oh boy, here we go again.
If you haven't read about my experience riding STP from last year, you can check it out here. Basically it hurt, a lot. And when I was done I said I'd never do it again.
Never say never, my friends. Never say never.
Rebecca (Team Sweat unite!) and I are teaming up to do it again with another one of our friends and will do the ride over two days. I think I'm still in shock about this decision I made. I can't blame it on the alcohol, because I only had one beer, so I guess I really do want to do this ride again. I need to prove that I can ride 200 miles in two days and actually have a lot of fun instead of being in pain the majority of the time.
So I guess I should start upping my bike mileage. I am not however going to go as gung ho for training like I did last year. I figure if some dudes in flip flops riding Fat Tire cruiser bikes can do it with hardly no training, so can I on my road bike. I'm pretty sure my pain came from improper bike fitting, so I'll get that addressed soon.
Ok, now I'm excited.

That sounds like a lot of fun! Congrats for deciding to do it again.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteI can't even count the number of times I've said "never again", and then done it again! ;)
