Work hard, eat well, drink good beer

My body is happy. Tired, but happy. I accomplished what I set out to do this weekend - sweat, a lot and not get sun burnt doing it.

This morning I drove up to Lake Padden to get in 3 laps of the 2.6 mile loop. My Garmin didn't want to work when I got there, so I ran gidgetless for the first two laps. On the third, I ran into my boyfriend's aunts and a friend and ran with them the last lap. I have no idea how long the 7.8 miles took, but I got it done and that's all that really matters.

After the run, I pulled on my wetsuit (really hard when you're sweaty) and went for my first open water swim of the year! The lake felt SO good after a hot run. I swam across and back, which got me about 800 yards. I love not hitting a physical wall every 25 yards :)

Since it was still really nice out, I couldn't not get on my bike for a little jaunt. Nothing like yesterday's 46 miles, but a respectable 16 on tired legs. I even stopped at Kulshan bikes and got my rear derailleur fixed. It was hitting my spokes in my easiest gear, which is annoying, but also made me climb hills in the next hardest gear.

I rounded out the day with some ab and hip work and finally called it a day with a cold IPA. I could get used to more weekends like this one - work hard, eat well, drink good beer. Cheers to the beginning of summer in the Northwest!

What does your perfect summer weekend consist of?

  1. sounds like a good day, indeed! My perfect summer weekend consists of: a good run in weather that isn't too hot, being lazy outside, sipping some lemonade and probably eating watermelon or ice cream :)

  2. A hard morning of training, then a nap, then some family time, then some grilling, then some pro cycling on the DVR. That usually does it, even if the nap is cut short like it was today because I had to hang a screen door. Still a good day.

Putting a wetsuit on after running though does make it not so perfect! haha

  6. Congrats on a great weekend of training! You rocked it out and that is so rewarding. I love summers and I love wrecking myself on the weekend. It makes that beer at the end of the day so much more rewarding!

  9. Sounds like a great weekend to me!

Ideal summer weekend = sun, blue skies, not too crazy hot/humid with a bike ride in the morning and then some pool/lounging around time later in the day!
