October is for running

October is my very favorite month. Fall is here, the leaves change, hats and scarves begin to be necessity and most importantly, my birthday is in October! But besides these things, October is for running! Since triathlon season is over, it's time to order a full plate of running and a side dish of biking and swimming.

I dove into half marathon training last week since I only have 4 weeks to train for it. Yes, this is not enough time to effectively train, but I'm doing what I can to do okay in the half on the 23rd. I'm not trying to PR, just want a decent race. I've kept coach Stephanie on board, so she's ramping up my running quite a bit and I'm LOVING the adjustment. I was close to getting burnt out on triathlon training, so just running is fan-freakin-tastic.

I've made a few smaller goals for October that I'm stickin' to myself: ab work and weight training. 3 ab workouts and 2 weight seshs a week. It's time to get buff!

Have any special goals for October?

  5. I agree 100% - October is the best month!

I'm focusing on swimming form, building bike power, and taking some rest/recovery from running to hopefully silence a nagging shin splint.

  6. Just watching the leaves change colors makes me want to be able to go out there and run amongst them!
