1. I rode my trainer last night for the first time in my new apartment. I'm on the top floor and only have neighbors on one side of me and below me. I have never heard my neighbors though the walls, but I was nervous that my loud trainer would piss them off. I decided, with help from Twitter, to screw it and ride. If they get mad, they can come up and knock on my door.
2. I'm sure you all know that Kona is this weekend. I love reading blog posts of people that are there, reading tweets about stuff going on and all the hype around it. What an experience that would be! It's not in my dreams to make it to Kona, heck, I don't even know if an Ironman is in my dreams, but being a part of something like that would be incredible. Don't you think?
3. I'm doubting my abilities to complete the half marathon in 2.5 weeks. There just isn't enough time to get the long runs in. 13.1 miles is really far to run and it's a hell of a lot longer than the 8 I'm running this Saturday. I think I downsize half marathons because I've done 4 to a distance that is easily doable. Stupid ego! I'm going to die on the 23rd, what was I thinking signing up for this?! No turning back now, just gotta see what my body is willing to put forth come race morning...
Tomorrow is Friday. Can I get a heck yes?! :)
You've been doing so much tri training, I think you may surprise yourself at the half. You can always adopt a walk-run combo if that makes it easier to get your head around though. Just go out & have some fun!
ReplyDeleteWhen I ran my first half marathon, the furthest I had run was 6 miles. Just take it slow - and use it as a "long run" !
ReplyDeleteYou'll do great in your half! You're super fit from the bike and the running you've been doing. If you can knock out 8, you can charge through 13.1.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't worry too much about the trainer noise. We have neighbors above us and below us, and no one has ever complained.
I agree with the above and think you'll surprise yourself at the half! Your endurance should be pretty good from the tri training, and I think the race-day mentality and adrenaline help a lot too. Just plan a smart race and don't go too hard early on.
ReplyDeleteYou will do great at the half! I remember during my first, I had only run 10 miles *once* and 8 miles *once*. Bodies are capable of a lot of great things come race day. I also recommend drawing smiley faces on your arm with a sharpie beforehand. But I may just be weird :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat decision on the trainer! Just hope they don't come up and ask you to stop. I'm currently watching the Kona broadcast; pretty much wrote off all productivity this afternoon/evening! haha And don't worry yourself about the half. If you can get through 8 with no major issue, you can do the full 13.1! I have all the faith in you.
ReplyDeleteI love the trainer
