Thank you all who shared your thoughts a couple posts ago about my running and lack of motivation to train for the marathon. I've decided to not continue training for the marathon and make sure that my runs are FUN, not something that I dread. I run because it's fun!
So since I am no longer stressed about marathon training, I'm just enjoying working out, no matter what the workout is. I've been spinning quite a bit and believe it or not, I've started swimming 2-3 days a week again. Although it's hard to get back into swimming after a month off, it feels amazing to be in the pool again. :)
This month, I'm really focusing on being healthy and happy. This time of year brings a lot of joy and happiness, but can also cause me to feel anxious and stressed out due so many people everywhere. I need to be extra patient, take a deep breath, keep calm and carry on. I hope to keep my holiday treats in check and eat a lot of veggies to keep my girlish figure the same size it is now. I just want to feel good this month!
I have plans to run the same half marathon I ran last March, so training will start to ramp up for that at the end of the month. Other than that, I think my body is ready for "doing whatever." Keep active, but no focus on regimented training.
What do you have planned for December?
I was training for a half marathon, and it was getting to where I did not like running, and I was miserable. It felt great to have my schedule wide open to do whatever fitness I wanted to do.
ReplyDeletesometimes I think that the healthy and happy mindset is a whole lot better than having clear goals. it can make you too crazy and causes way too much stress, if that's the focus every single month. December I'm just taking it easy, trying to log miles, but not worrying about time that much, as long as I'm still moving
ReplyDeleteSounds like you made the right choice! December is my "unstructured" month - no crazy hard workouts, just whatever I feel like doing. Hopefully there will be snow soon so I can throw skiing into the mix :)
